Exploration in Basic Writing

This volume provides an introduction to the basic rhetorical techniques that students need in order to construct effective paragraphs and brief essays. The first six chapters cover the rhetorical basics, with special emphasis on those features that distinguish written English from conversational English. The remaining chapters introduce fundamental grammar rules and provide exercises in proof-reading and in correcting sentence-level errors.
