Jane is persecuted by members of her LDS church, a leader of which, Elder Tull, wants to marry her. She is supported by a number of friends, including Bern Venters and Lassiter, the famous gunman and killer of Mormons. She struggles with her blindness in seeing the evil nature of her church and its leaders, trying to keep both Venters and Lassiter from killing her adversaries, who are slowly ruining her. Will she abandon her false beliefs and discover her true love? And will the Mormons take their revenge on her?
A second storyline tells of Venters and his escape to the wilderness with a girl whom he has accidentally shot, and while he's caring for her, is he falling in love with her too?
