A candid, critical and sometimes humorous journey into the swamp (what the author calls America's criminal justice system). The author, writing for the average reader, reveals how our failed justice system was designed by normal, responsible people to fit normal responsible people-not criminal offenders. So it's a well-intentioned system promoted by politicians, that unwittingly sets up losers to lose, and fails to teach responsibility to the irresponsible or basic right from wrong moral values to the immoral or amoral. It's a system that foolishly attempts to rehabilitate by punishing or rescuing offenders into becoming responsible when research clearly shows the criminal mind cannot rehabilitate when it was never habilitated in the first place. Change must come from within, not from without, and this can be taught...and caught. The author points the way out of the swamp, but it's not what vote-seeking politicians want to hear.
