The Brabazon Committee and Airliners 1945 - 1960

This is an illustrated history examining the development of Britain's post-war airliners based on the recommendations of the wartime Brabazon Committee. Beginning in the Second World War period and following airliner developments up to 1960 when the UK aircraft industry was forced into merger, this book clarifies the work of the famous Brabazon Committee, which made the decisions over which airliners would be required by the country on the return to peace. Detailing the development of aircraft proposed by the committee, Mike Phipp discusses the successes of certain aircraft versus the fate of others which sadly fell by the wayside. The history also covers other airliners produced by the UK in the 1940s and offers comparisons with developments in Italy, France and the USA.
