Product Overview
185 illustrations, 43 in colour The Bayeux Tapestry is a familiar and much cherished work of art, but it remains baffling in many ways. Commissioned shortly after 1066 by William the Conqueror's half-brother, Bishop Odo of Bayeux, i t is filled with vivid, detailed depictions of the Norman Conquest which, paradoxically, were almost certainly the work of Anglo-Saxons not Normans.
