Jane Marple takes a holiday at Bertram's hotel in London for a much-needed rest and to relive the happy memories of sojourns there during her youth. The hotel is famous for fully preserving its Edwardian atmosphere -- from the proper staff to the elderly guests who frequent the tearoom. The dcor is well appointed, and the service is impeccable.
Jane's vacation takes a sinister turn when a hotel maid is found strangled on the roof. Always curious and observant, the intrepid Miss Marple launches her own investigation, and is soon assisted by another Jane, also a hotel maid. When an attempt is made on the life of hotel guest, the two Janes work together in an effort to find a motive -- and identify a killer.
