Written in the late 19th century, G.H. Pembers Earths Earliest Ages is a book that might possibly be even more relevant in the 21st century. In Ages, Pember presciently observes the decline of Godly fear in society that was predicted in the Bible. Pember details seven points by which Christians can discern the relentless march of prophetic events leading to the rapture of the Church, the Great Tribulation, and the return of Jesus Christ. Also a proficiency in the fine arts, which captivated the minds of men, and helped to induce an entire oblivion of God. IV. An alliance between the nominal Church and the World, which speedily resulted in a complete amalgamation. V. A vast increase of population. VI. The rejection of the preaching of Enoch, whose warnings thus became a savour of death unto the world, and hardened men beyond recovery. VII. The appearance upon earth of beings from the Principality of the Air, and their unlawful intercourse with the human race.
