Illustrated with over 300 black & white photos. Geauga County was settled in 1798 and established in 1805. From its beginnings as a combination of dense forests and swamps, the county has been transformed and utilized in various ways to become a community which is a combination of rural and suburban, farmland and woodland, commercial and industrial. The authors have garnered from many sources an overview of the development of the county according to the different aspects of growth, including schools, churches, agriculture, business and industry, and recreation. The emphasis of this history is on the people who helped to make this Western Reserve county come alive and be the vital community that it is in 1989.
