Prentice Hall Mathematics: Courses 1, 2, 3 and Algebra Readiness 2010
Algebra Readiness
Algebra Readiness is designed for the middle school learner and provides a smooth transition from Course 1 and Course 2 Math.
Students of all levels benefit from the structured leveled set of exercises in the homework sections. First, students practice by example. Next, they apply the skills they have learned, and finally, students are challenged with problems that require them to apply concepts on an accelerated level. The Go For Help icon refers students back to examples for help on similar problems previously introduced in the chapter. Topics covered include algebraic expressions and integers, solving one-step equations and inequalities, area and volume, and linear functions.
Prentice Hall Mathematics maintains the quality content for which Prentice Hall is known, with the research-based approach students need. Daily, integrated intervention and powerful test prep help all students master the standards and prepare for high-stakes assessments.

The Research Study - Behind the Scenes
PRES Associates, an independent research firm, conducted a study to assess the effectiveness of Prentice Hall Middle School Math in helping students attain critical mathematics skills during the 2007-2008 school year. The evaluation study employed a randomized control trial (RCT) design, which was utilized to meet the rigorous standards of the What Works Clearinghouse (WWC). The study was conducted across 5 schools in CO, FL, KY, MI, and NY. The sample included 15 teachers and 922 students in the seventh grade. The students were assessed at the beginning and end of the year with the Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS), Group Mathematics Assessment and Diagnostic Evaluation (GMADE), and Balanced Assessment of Mathematics (BAM) assessments.
