Ms. Hunter's book is recognized as the first major cookbook to focus on healthful food preparation and ingredients, being published roughly a decade before the idea of healthy eating became something of a national fad. Other writers in related fields, including Rachel Carson and Adele Davis, regularly consulted with Ms. Hunter for her expertise on artificial food additives and pesticides. Apparently, Ms. Hunter lived by her written words. She passed away in May 2017 at the age of 98.
