Reading Strategies for College and Beyond offers simple, practical strategies designed to lead students to a successful college career. These strategies have a wide range of applications and can be useful tools for both students and teachers seeking new ways to engage developmental students.
As each reading strategy is learned, it is practiced and applied to students' textbook reading assignments from other college courses. This text shows students that reading is not a passive process, but rather an active one that is influenced by what they bring to the text, how they prepare themselves to read, and what they do while reading. All these bear directly on how much they get from the reading material. The active engagement promoted by the text enhances both comprehension and recall, while the perspectives discussed create an engaging and thought provoking reading experience for students.
