Now that the West has become East-oriented, the publication of this book has taken on a new importance. The student has become more receptive to the message of Asia. Not only does this book discuss the subtle anatomy of the human body - the Chakras and the Kundalini Force - but the Asanas as well. It very ably covers methods of breath control, and the correct postures to be observed in the practice of yoga. Also Chinese, Japanese and Tibetan techniques are precisely discussed for the benefit of students who wish to know how they accord with the practice of Hindu yoga. The author brings to the attention the sexual problem in yoga, pointing out that man's most secret manifestations is precisely dealt with in yoga and the so-called mysterious force becomes understandable. Desire does not necessarily manifest itself in the sexual act. To be of value a book must be authentic, especially when the subject is of vital importance. J. Marques Riviere's work is highly recommended, for it is one of the authentic works on Tantrik Yoga. For his own information the author went to the Sanskrit for the original text. Also, he received instructions from a noted Indian yogi. The author has included a lucid discussion on death, the state after death and reincarnation according to yoga.
