In The Henninger and Hennigar Family of Alsace, Pennsylvania and Nova Scotia, Isabel Pilkington Henniger offers a compelling account of the lives of Christian Henninger of Nova Scotia, and his uncle Michael and brothers Georg and Jacob of Berks and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania. All these men were born in Alsace and emigrated to Pennsylvania, Michael in 1731, Georg in 1763, Jacob in 1766, and Christian, who travelled at a young age to join his older brothers there, in about 1767. Caught up in the American Revolution, Christian fought first for the Pennsylvania Flying Camp and, after his capture, for the British 84th Regiment of Foot. Granted land in Nova Scotia on his discharge from the 84th in 1783, Christian settled in Hants County. Based on extensive research in early historical documents, and liberally illustrated with charts, maps and photographs, this book is the first genealogical account to chronicle the lives of Michael, Georg and Jacob Henninger and their children in Pennsylvania, as well as those of Christian, his children and grandchildren in Nova Scotia.
