This UV-C is has a number of useful features. The transparent screw cap allows you to monitor the PL UV-C lamp safely, by blocking your eyes from harmful UV-C radiation. For your safety, the ballast has been equipped with a special power off function. When you replace the UV-C lamp, the ballast will switch off automatically when the lamp is removed. The PL UV-C lamp has been further improved so both its effective light output and its operating life have been increased with about 30% compared to previous models. The unit is used with a filtration system, which has a separate compartment, meaning that the UV-C radiation does not come in contact with the filter material. In order to maintain the effectivity of this UV-C unit, the quartz glass should be cleaned at least 3 times a year. Note: The UV-C 9 W unit is compatible with the Cross-Flow Biofill and Clear Control 25 filtering systems.
